Clear Comfort CCW25 AOP Spa Sanitation System

The Clear Comfort CCW25 is a hydroxyl-based Advanced Oxidation Process sanitation system designed for portable spas, swim spas, plunge pools, and personal hot tubs.

Installed beneath the spa cabinet, the CCW25 works with the existing circulation system to provide full-flow water treatment while reducing dependence on high levels of chlorine, bromine, salt, and other traditional spa chemicals.

Why You’ll Love It

  • Designed for portable spas, swim spas, plunge pools, and hot tubs
  • Patented hydroxyl-based AOP technology
  • Full-flow water treatment up to 30 GPM
  • Helps reduce chlorine or bromine demand
  • Supports low-chemical spa water care
  • Compact under-cabinet installation

Hydroxyl-Based Advanced Oxidation

The CCW25 generates hydroxyl radicals that oxidize contaminants in the spa water.

Treated air is introduced through the spa’s existing air-injection or Venturi system, allowing the oxidation process to work throughout the circulated water while reducing the burden placed on the traditional residual sanitizer.

The system does not replace proper filtration, circulation, testing, water balance, or all sanitizer requirements. Maintain the water according to Clear Comfort’s instructions, the spa manufacturer’s requirements, and applicable local regulations.

Designed for Portable Spas and Swim Spas

The CCW25 is intended for:

  • Portable spas
  • Personal hot tubs
  • Swim spas
  • Plunge pools
  • Cold tubs
  • Other compatible self-contained residential spa systems

Most spas that are ozone-ready or already equipped with a factory ozone system may be compatible with the CCW25. Spas with a dedicated circulation pump are generally the best candidates.

Compatibility with the specific spa make, model, control board, circulation system, and plumbing configuration should be confirmed before ordering.

Under-Cabinet Installation

The CCW25 is cord-connected and designed specifically for installation beneath the spa cabinet.

A typical installation connects the system to the spa’s existing ozone or air-injection plumbing. The unit should be mounted securely, kept accessible for future cartridge service, and positioned so the tubing can be routed without kinks or excessive length.

Before installation, confirm:

  • The spa can accept a supplemental sanitation system
  • The existing ozone or Venturi connection is compatible
  • Adequate mounting space is available
  • The control board can support the electrical connection
  • The CCW25 will operate only while the circulation pump is running
  • Air tubing can be routed safely
  • Suitable air flow can be maintained

Clear Comfort recommends professional installation.

Electrical Connection

The CCW25 operates from self-adjusting 110–230V, 50/60 Hz power and draws less than 1 amp.

The included Y-harness is designed to connect the system through a compatible spa-control connection. Exact electrical requirements depend on the spa manufacturer and control system.

Installation must include:

  • Correct supply voltage
  • Proper grounding
  • GFCI protection where required
  • Spa-compatible terminals and connectors
  • Code-compliant wiring
  • Control that prevents the CCW25 from operating without water circulation

The system should run only while the circulation pump is operating.

Venturi or Forced-Air Injection

The CCW25 introduces treated air into the spa water through the existing Venturi or ozone-injection system.

A steady stream of bubbles should be visible through at least one spa return while the system is operating.

If the existing plumbing does not create adequate air movement, an optional air pump may be required. The air pump, flow meter, and mounting components must be installed according to the CCW25 instructions and the spa’s configuration.

System Status Lights

The CCW25 provides visual operating and cartridge-status information.

  • Solid green light: Normal system operation
  • Blinking green light: Cartridge is approaching the end of its service life; order a replacement
  • Red light: Cartridge replacement is required
  • Blue cartridge light: The cartridge is receiving power

When first powered, the control-unit light may cycle through multiple colors before settling on green.

If the blue cartridge light does not illuminate, the cartridge connection should be inspected.

Cartridge Service

The CCW25 uses a replaceable cartridge with operating life tracked by the control unit.

Published status ranges include:

  • Solid green: Up to approximately 7,999 operating hours
  • Blinking green: Approximately 8,000–9,999 hours
  • Red: More than approximately 10,000 hours

For many installations, this results in approximately one cartridge exchange per year.

Cartridge life depends on the actual number of operating hours.

Cartridge Exchange

Routine system maintenance primarily consists of exchanging the cartridge.

The process includes:

  1. Disconnect electrical power
  2. Remove the cartridge cable connection
  3. Disconnect the air tubing
  4. Release and remove the old cartridge
  5. Install the replacement cartridge
  6. Reconnect the tubing and cable
  7. Restore power and verify the status lights
  8. Return the used cartridge through Clear Comfort’s recycling process

The system should be powered off before cartridge service.

Spa Circulation and Filtration

The CCW25 must operate during the filtration cycle.

For reliable performance:

  • Maintain the spa manufacturer’s recommended circulation schedule
  • Keep the filter clean
  • Inspect the filter more frequently during heavy use
  • Confirm that bubbles are entering the spa
  • Maintain proper water flow
  • Do not operate the CCW25 when water is not circulating

Dirty filters or restricted circulation can reduce water quality and system performance.

Water-Care Guidelines

Begin with clean, fresh, properly balanced water.

For previously used spas, Clear Comfort recommends using a spa-purge product before draining and refilling.

Published spa-water guidelines include:

  • pH: 7.2–7.4
  • Total alkalinity: 80–120 ppm
  • Calcium hardness: 50–250 ppm

Additional maintenance includes:

  • Testing and balancing water regularly
  • Maintaining the appropriate sanitizer residual
  • Cleaning the filter regularly
  • Brushing and wiping spa surfaces as needed
  • Shocking after periods of heavy use when necessary
  • Following the spa manufacturer’s water-care requirements

Actual chemical requirements depend on bather load, water temperature, filtration, circulation, and local requirements.

Certifications

The CCW25 is listed by Clear Comfort as:

  • A recognized component under NSF/ANSI/CAN 50 for swimming-pool and spa equipment
  • UL-certified water-treatment equipment
  • Registered under EPA Establishment No. 91122-CO-3

Certification scope and installation requirements should be reviewed for regulated applications.

For previously used spas, Clear Comfort recommends using a spa-purge product before draining and refilling.

Published spa-water guidelines include:

  • pH: 7.2–7.4
  • Total alkalinity: 80–120 ppm
  • Calcium hardness: 50–250 ppm

Additional maintenance includes:

  • Testing and balancing water regularly
  • Maintaining the appropriate sanitizer residual
  • Cleaning the filter regularly
  • Brushing and wiping spa surfaces as needed
  • Shocking after periods of heavy use when necessary
  • Following the spa manufacturer’s water-care requirements

Actual chemical requirements depend on bather load, water temperature, filtration, circulation, and local requirements.

Certifications

The CCW25 is listed by Clear Comfort as:

  • A recognized component under NSF/ANSI/CAN 50 for swimming-pool and spa equipment
  • UL-certified water-treatment equipment
  • Registered under EPA Establishment No. 91122-CO-3

Certification scope and installation requirements should be reviewed for regulated applications.

Warranty

The current Clear Comfort limited warranty provides:

  • Three years of coverage on the CCW25 system
  • One year of coverage on replacement cartridges and cylinders

Coverage applies to the original purchaser and is subject to proper installation, electrical supply, operation, maintenance, and registration.

The warranty must be activated within one year of Clear Comfort’s ship date.

Freight, cartridge removal, reinstallation, labor, and other related costs may not be covered.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the CCW25 designed for?

The CCW25 is designed for residential portable spas, swim spas, plunge pools, cold tubs, and personal hot tubs.

Can it be used on an inground spa?

The CCW25 is specifically designed for under-cabinet installation on self-contained spa systems. The CCW50 is generally the better Clear Comfort option for permanently installed inground spas.

What is the maximum water flow?

The published maximum treatment flow is 30 GPM.

Does it eliminate chlorine or bromine?

The CCW25 is designed to reduce dependence on high sanitizer levels. Proper water testing, balance, filtration, and a residual sanitizer may still be required.

Can it replace an existing ozone system?

Many ozone-ready spas or spas with a factory ozone system may be upgraded to the CCW25. Compatibility should be confirmed for the specific spa model.

Does it require an air pump?

Not always. An optional air pump may be required when the spa’s existing Venturi or circulation system cannot provide adequate air movement.

Where is the CCW25 installed?

It is installed under the spa cabinet and connected to the spa’s existing air-injection or ozone plumbing.

How much power does it use?

The CCW25 uses less than 15 watts and operates from self-adjusting 110–230V, 50/60 Hz power.

How often is the cartridge replaced?

Many installations require approximately one cartridge exchange each year. The control-unit status light indicates when replacement is approaching or required.

Is professional installation recommended?

Yes. The installer must confirm electrical compatibility, mounting, air tubing, circulation control, and correct operation.
